Final report

By Jean Damascene Uwizeyimana | Project Leader

Dear GlobalGiving Supporters,

We are writing to officially announce the closure of our project, "Support Community Health Workers in Rural Areas," which was launched during the COVID-19 crisis.

Our original goal was to train and equip 4,000 Community Health Workers (CHWs) with essential knowledge and supplies to help them respond to infectious disease threats. Unfortunately, due to limited funding, we were unable to reach that target.

Thanks to your generosity, however, we successfully supported 1,500 CHWs with:

  • Training in Infection Prevention and Control (IPC)

  • Technical sessions on emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases

  • Simulation-based learning sessions

  • Distribution of critical Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) such as hand sanitizers, hygienic kits, infrared thermometers, and surgical masks

While our fundraising goal was $5,000, we raised $1,538 from 22 generous donors. Though we did not reach our full goal, every contribution made a real difference during an urgent and unprecedented time.

This project has now been active for over four years, and with the evolving public health landscape, we have decided to deactivate and officially close the project.

To each of you who donated and supported us along the way—thank you. Your belief in the vital role of CHWs helped protect lives and strengthen community resilience when it was needed most.

Though this chapter is closing, our work continues. We hope to share new projects with you soon and continue building a healthier, more prepared future together.

With sincere gratitude,

Jean Damascene Uwizeyimana

RWAYDAVO President
