Using Community Drama and Storytelling to Strengthen Ebola Awareness
In many communities across Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, storytelling and drama are powerful tools for communication and learning. Because of your support, community drama groups are being engaged to deliver Ebola awareness messages in culturally relevant and engaging ways.
These performances are held in public spaces such as markets, schools, and village centers, using relatable characters and real-life scenarios to demonstrate how Ebola spreads and how it can be prevented. Messages include recognizing symptoms, practicing hand hygiene, and seeking care early.
As a result, complex health information is becoming easier to understand and remember. Community members are more engaged, asking questions and discussing prevention practices after performances.
This interactive approach also helps address fears and misconceptions, creating an open space for dialogue and learning.
Your support is transforming education into an engaging and memorable experience—ensuring that key messages resonate deeply within communities.
By using local art forms, you are strengthening awareness in a way that is both impactful and culturally meaningful, contributing to more effective Ebola prevention efforts.
