Empowering Women’s Savings Groups to Support Ebola Prevention
Women’s savings groups are a vital part of community life in many border regions of Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Because of your support, these groups are being engaged as platforms for promoting Ebola prevention and strengthening community resilience.
Members of these groups are receiving awareness on Ebola symptoms, hygiene practices, and prevention strategies. They are also sharing this knowledge within their networks and households, extending the reach of prevention messages.
As a result, women are becoming key advocates for health within their communities. Their influence helps reinforce positive behaviors such as handwashing, early reporting, and safe caregiving practices.
In addition, savings groups provide a support system that helps members manage challenges during the outbreak, including access to resources and emotional support.
Your support is helping leverage existing community structures to strengthen the Ebola response.
By empowering women’s groups, you are amplifying prevention efforts and ensuring that communities are supported both socially and economically during this critical time.
