Have you ever thought how deaf people travel? Before that, do you know sign language all over the world is different? Sign language all over the world is different, and even the sign language used by the divided countries, South and North Korea, is different. Deaf people will not be able to understand unless their own sign language. Social Enterprise Defnuri, composed of young Deaf people, helps deaf people to access information like making sign language travel conversation books for deaf people

Challenge

Even today, you listen to the news, enjoy music, and go on a trip. Without any inconvenience. But what about deaf people? They have very limited access to information, unlike hearing people. Limited access to information threatens the safety of deaf people. In the situation of a disaster, they cannot hear the alarm sound, and government emergency briefs often do not provide sign language interpretation. To solve this problem, a young deaf person established a social enterprise.

Solution

Deafnuri is planning to create an inclusive society by providing barrier-free services to everyone in advocating information accessibility for the deaf, training deaf tour guides, education on improving disability awareness, and making travel conversation books for the deaf. However, it is not easy for young deaf people who have just started their own businesses to do business. We support social enterprises run by young deaf people to help them business stably and solve social problems.

Long-Term Impact

Deafnuri lives in South Korea, the only divided country in the world. There are about 390,000 deaf people in South Korea and are about 350,000 deaf people in North Korea. Deafnuri believes that reducing the difference in sign language between South and North Korea can accelerate unification even by a day.
