Nonprofit health centers and clinics are a critical part of America's healthcare safety net. These facilities provide comprehensive, culturally competent health services to more than 23 million U.S. residents each year. More than 72 percent of patients have incomes below the federal poverty level and roughly 35% lack health insurance. The majority of people seeking care at these clinics do not have the means necessary to obtain prescription medicines and other health-restoring resources.
Direct Relief improves the health of vulnerable people throughout the United States by delivering no-cost pharmaceuticals and medical supplies to more than 1,300 community clinics and health centers. Based on trusted partnerships, Direct Relief secures product donations from pharmaceutical companies and medical supply manufacturers that can be used in the U.S. In addition, Direct Relief has worked with BD for 5 years to highlight and award innovation in community health.
