On September the first, our project "Give Refugee Children in Serbia Hope for Education" entered the Open Challenge, the last step on the road that Pomoc deci had to take in order to become partners of GlobalGiving Foundation. The task was to raise minimum 5,000 USD from at least 40 donors. We have been competing for donations among more than 330 projects from all over the world.
By the end of the first week we managed to gather 25 Champion Donors and secure a bonus award of 500 USD from GlobalGiving. We decided to use this award to provide an additional stipend for a child.
On two Bonus Days when GlobalGiving was matching all donations between 25 and 1,000 USD with 25 percent match, we managed to get 124 USD in matching bonus. This amount we decided to combine with one donation of 300 USD to provide another stipend for the needy children.
With two other donations specifically made for the stipends, we have so far secured a total of four stipends.
The remaining 3,000 USD we will use to buy the needed shoes, jackets, textbooks and to provide additional tutoring for the children in the collective centers.
We expect the raised money to be in our account before the end of October, and as soon as we know the exact amount we will have raised by then, we will have all details about which child will get what type of support and when.
On September the 24th, we have reached the required minimum target of raising 5,000 USD and since 74 donors in total have made donations to our project, we are happy to announce that WITH YOUR HELP we have secured partnership with GlobalGiving!
This means that our project will remain on the GlobalGiving website and we can raise more money and help more children in collective centers in Serbia. The more we raise, the more children we will be able to help, so, please, spread the word, let other people in your environment know about our initiative and help us raise more funds for the needy children. We will keep you informed about the progress every two months. Those who have donated for a stipend will also get an additional report about the chosen child's progress every two months.
