United Hands Help the Family of Five Children

By Ljiljana Vasic | Director

Helping the family with five children
Helping the family with five children

Dear Friend,

Over the last three months, YOU helped us raise 1750 US Dollars for the children of the refugees and internally displaced people in Serbia! This has helped us extend our support to more of these children that are in very difficult situations and has brought big smiles on their faces.

This time, we'd like to share with you how much our joint efforts have made a difference for five children. Njegos (13), Jovana (12), Jovan (9), Luka (8) and Stefan (6) with their parents live in a modest two-room accommodation in a village close to Smederevska Palanka. Zemka, their mother, fled the war in Bosnia as a young girl and as a refugee, she was sent to Kosovo only to find herself running away from the bombs again just four years later.

They could not afford school snack for any of the children, the poor living conditions only contributed to the condition which led to 29 operations (one on his heart) on Jovan who is only nine years old.

With your support, we have provided a full-year stipend for Jovana, school snacks for Jovan and Luka and have bought some necessities for the whole family.

"I am not keeping this money for me only, we now sit and talk about who of us needs new shoes most and who needs a new notebook. We, then, buy that and the rest of the money we give to Mom to buy food", says Jovana.

Jovana is one of eight children that are receiving the stipend from your donations this school year. We have also bought clothes and shoes/boots for 15 children in this period and have provided snacks for 27 children.

We will continue informing you regularly where each dollar of your donation goes, who we have helped and what change together we have managed to bring about.

We hope you will join us and help OUR children get the food, clothing, and education they need to be happy and healthy and to feel equal to other children!

Thank you very much for the interest and support for our project. Please feel free to contact us with any questions, comments or ideas at pomocdeci@eunet.rs
