- Project Purpose: Resolving the gap in the growth environment by supporting the healthy growth and development of children from migrant backgrounds - Project Contents: Support for infant care expenses, establishment of Korean language preparatory schools and preparatory classrooms, dissemination of educational contents, and support for physical and psycho-emotional medical expenses
- In Korea, the number of children from migrant backgrounds continues to increase every year. The number of children from migrant backgrounds in Korea has increased by about 2.7 times over the past decade. And those schools classified as multicultural schools have doubled in 2022 compared to 2019. - Children from migrant backgrounds have difficulty communicating in Korean and adapting to public education. They also experience higher levels of parental neglect than other children.
- The project will support care costs to use early childhood education facilities for children from migrant backgrounds. - The project will distribute Korean language education content and materials for school-age children from migrant backgrounds. Also, it will establish Korean language preparatory schools and classrooms to help children adapt to public education and improve their learning skills. - The project will support the treatment cost of children from migrant backgrounds.
The project aims to eventually establish a public Korean language preparatory school, one institution specializing in Korean language education. In addition, the goal is to operate a total of five Korean language classes over three years that can be officially recognized.
