Memorable Summer Camps

By Anna Schwaller | Project Assistant

Blue Cross summer holidays camps
Blue Cross summer holidays camps

This year, Blue Cross Denmark has organized 10 holiday camps where vulnerable children and young people can get a much-needed break from their challenging daily lives. These summer camps serve as a support programme for children and their families, offering them a chance to step away from their hectic routines and enjoy quality time together during the summer. The days are filled with activities such as playground fun, museum visits, magic show, sports, and beautiful nature.

The summer camps are mainly run by volunteers who organize activities like water fights, badminton, climbing, and relaxation time with nail painting and cozy moments in the hammocks. The 10 Blue Cross holiday camps wouldn’t be possible without the talented and dedicated volunteers who play a crucial role in making a significant difference for the children attending. The volunteers offer the children a range of experiences, along with care, attention, and lots of hope!

25-year-old Sidsel is currently studying psychology. With a long summer break as a student, she dedicates a week to volunteering at one of the Blue Cross holiday camps."I appreciate the connection I can build with the children. It's just nice when they open up and trust that it's a safe place", says Sidsel.

New friendships are also formed at the summer camps. William and Tessa have become good friends at the holiday camp. When they are not at the holiday camp, they keep in touch via SnapChat. "Without the holiday camp, I'd just be at home", says William. "Yes, that would be a bit boring. Then you wouldn't get to know these great people either. I wouldn't even know William now", says Tessa.

THANK YOU to Blue Cross Denmark for this indispensable work with children and young people! A heartfelt thanks also to all the volunteers, whose dedication makes these holiday camps possible.

THANK YOU for everything you give to this valuable project!
