Support for Children in Denmark

All across Denmark, Blue Cross camps create places where children and young people can just be themselves.
For some, it’s the first time they feel part of a group that truly sees them - a place filled with laughter, care, and moments that stay with them long after they return home.

Different camps, same spirit

Each Blue Cross camp has its own personality. Some are calm and nature-filled, with hikes, bonfires, and time outdoors. Others are bursting with activity, music, creativity, and teamwork.

For young people looking for adventure, there’s even the sailing camp aboard the ship Agape - where everyone becomes part of the crew, learning to navigate, cook together, and rely on one another as they sail between Danish harbors.

Whether on land or at sea, the camps all share one thing: a warm, safe community where everyone belongs.

A place to breathe

Many of the children and teenagers who join come from families facing addiction, poverty, or mental health challenges. The camps give them something many of us take for granted; a break, a sense of safety, and a chance to just be kids.

Behind every camp is a group of dedicated volunteers who make it all possible. They spend their holidays creating unforgettable days for others - with open hearts, laughter, and time for every child.

The little moments matter

The most important memories from camp aren’t always the big events, but the small things:
a shared joke, an evening by the fire, or someone taking the time to listen.
It’s in these moments that confidence grows, and a sense of belonging takes root.

Blue Cross Denmark is deeply thankful to everyone who helps make these camps happen - volunteers, donors, and supporters alike.

This summer, Blue Cross Denmark is giving over 200 children and young people the chance to enjoy an unforgettable time at the Blue Cross holiday camps. 
The camps offer a vibrant program full of experiences. But the most valuable part? The children get a much-needed break from their often stressful daily lives – and can simply be kids.

Barnets Blå Hus in Frederikshavn also made the most of summer by offering children and young people a special break.
As part of a varied summer camp, participants enjoyed a wide range of activities.
Barnets Blå Hus in Frederikshavn is a support and treatment center for children and families affected by alcohol or other drug-related issues. The camp not only gives the children and their parents a break from the often heavy challenges of everyday life, but also offers shared experiences and lasting memories.

Some of the camp highlights included:

• A magical visit from Henny Solskin: The magician amazed everyone with his tricks – and the best part: every child had the chance to come on stage and perform their own magic trick.
• Their very own circus show – “The stage is yours!” Anyone who wanted to could perform their own act. The audience was treated to performances including a real unicorn whisperer and an impressive ball show.
• An adventurous treasure hunt: To end the week, the camp transformed into a pirate world. Armed with treasure maps and clues, the children set off on an exciting hunt for hidden treasure.

Egåhus also joined in the summer celebrations – with a cozy garden party that has gradually become a cherished tradition. Residents, staff, neighbors, former residents, and friends of the house came together to celebrate the summer.
The event is a lovely opportunity to wish each other a good summer, enjoy time together, and foster strong, healthy relationships – both within the house and with the surrounding community.

Egåhus is a drug-free residential care facility for young adults aged 18 to 30 who have become homeless and often struggle with psychological vulnerability, loneliness, substance abuse, or unemployment. Here, people are met at eye level – with presence, empathy, and a strong belief that change is possible.
