Stjernestunder is run by Blue Cross Denmark and offers a free programme for children and teenagers aged 7 and 18 who, for various reasons, need a break from their challenging everyday lives. These holiday camps, organized during the summer and Christmas breaks, cater specifically to those urgently in need of such opportunities. Typically, the program serves young people from backgrounds affected by substance abuse, poverty, mental health issues, and various social challenges.

At Stjernestunder, children experience the joys of being part of a social community. They are empowered, develop a new sense of self-worth, and build healthy relationships. Through diverse activities like excursions and social gatherings, the children feel seen and acknowledged.

These activities, ranging from fishing trips to baking bread or visiting local amusement parks and attractions, are carefully planned and organized by a dedicated volunteer leadership team. Working with experienced and committed volunteers is very important, as they not only care for the children and teenagers but also provide emotional support and leave lasting impressions.

One volunteer is Ronja, who is passionate about helping children and young people at Blue Cross Denmark alongside her studies. She also played a key role in founding Stjernestunder in Odense. In 2022, her group consisted of 25 children, and just a few years later, this number grew to 46 children. Together with 12 other volunteers, Ronja has organized memorable activities such as farm tours, a cake competition, and trips to various theme parks, creating unforgettable experiences for the children

THANK YOU, Ronja, and all the devoted volunteers for your significant contributions to the lives of these vulnerable children and teenagers.

We are also immensely grateful for your generous donation, which supports the continuation of this indispensable work in Denmark!
