Your support has made a big difference in 2025 – empowering people who work every day to build a strong, solidarity-based democracy. You have helped defend democracy where it is under attack. And we can see more clearly than ever how necessary this is.
2025 has shown how much pressure our democracy is under. While those affected are confronted with racism and anti-Semitism on a daily basis and right-wing extremist violence continues to increase, we at the Amadeu Antonio Foundation are also experiencing political headwinds: the AfD has attempted to attack our democratic work in the Bundestag and cut state funding.
But at the same time, 2025 has shown us one thing: there are many of us. And we are strong when we stand together. The enormous wave of support we received after the AfD's attack – signatures on our petition, messages of solidarity, donations – touched us deeply and strengthened us. Thank you for being one of the people who take a stand.
Thank you for standing by our side and keeping democracy alive every day. In 2025, we were able to support over 300 democratic civil society initiatives that are committed to fighting right-wing extremism, antisemitism, racism, and anti-feminism, and to promoting a democratic society based on solidarity. That's 100 more initiatives than in the previous year. You made that possible. Examples range from a music festival against right-wing extremism in rural Rhineland-Palatinate to a village festival organized by the “Königsdorf rückt zusammen” initiative to promote solidarity in the village and combat racism and exclusion, to the development of anti-racism programs for daycare centers in Brandenburg.

2026 needs solidarity. And courage.
One thing is clear: we will not be intimidated. Despite challenging circumstances, support will continue, help will be provided quickly, and solidarity will be strengthened.
