Caritas Carinthia (Austria) has so far been able to help 88 direct beneficiaires and/or households in the affected area.
After the severe weather disaster in the Gegendtal from one moment to the next nothing was the same anymore. Caritas has so far supported the affected households with cash in the total amount of € 188,000. In total, Caritas has distributed € 250,000 for the storm disaster in Treffen and Arriach.
The employees from Caritas Carinthia went out in the first few days to gain an impression of the situation on the ground. In order to help quickly and unbureaucratically, Caritas Carinthia cooperated very closely with the mayors of the communities - as after all if you help quickly, you help twice!
An affected farmer from Treffen reports on the terrible events and experiences:
It just tore away the balcony. I was really lucky. We are currently facing nothing. We are very grateful for the emergency aid from Caritas and I do not know what to say now - I am overwhelmed. Thank you, please tell all donors thank you for this support!
With the financial support of Caritas Carinthia, the farmer was able to make the first food purchases, buy clothes, and also to buy the first important tools for the construction work on site.
