Years of war in Syria have left a very large number of children without parental care, while the existing orphanage system has weakened due to prolonged instability. Many orphanages lack sufficient resources to meet children's growing needs. This project supports orphanages in Syria to provide safe shelter, daily care, education, and psychosocial support, helping children grow up protected and supported despite the impact of war.
Since 2011, conflict in Syria has caused widespread loss of life, leaving thousands of children without one or both parents. At the same time, orphanages have been damaged or under-resourced, making it difficult to respond to the increasing number of children in need. Without stable care, children face risks to their physical safety, emotional well-being, education, and long-term development.
This project provides direct support to orphanages caring for children affected by war. Support focuses on meeting essential needs such as safe accommodation, regular meals, clothing, heating, education, and psychosocial support. By strengthening existing orphanages and supporting caregivers, the project ensures children receive consistent care in a safe and nurturing environment.
By supporting orphanages, this project helps children recover from the effects of war and grow up in stable conditions. Children who receive continuous care, education, and emotional support are more likely to build resilience, continue their education, and participate positively in society. In the long term, the project helps prevent a lost generation and contributes to Syria's recovery through child-centered care.
