The 2nd of May, 2018 was a special day for all of our teachers and students as we celebrated the National Education Day. The children and the teachers were very excited to welcome this once-in-a-year event!
The celebration began at 9 AM with an opening ceremony. Speeches were given by EBPP Founder and CEO - David J. Booth, EBPP Team Leader - Komang Kurniawan, and the Head of Education Team - I Made Suarjana. They encouraged our students to study hard and graduate high school to pursue a better life in the future.
The event continued with a play entitled "Rumahku Tempat Merajut Mimpi” (My Home, A Place Where I Live My Dream). The play narrated the actual Mount Agung volcano crisis in September 2017. It vividly described the challenges faced by the villagers while living in the evacuation camp and how those problems were overcome. It was an exciting play which combined the story with traditional and modern dance, music, poetry reading and singing. More than 20 talented representatives from six EBPP schools were selected to perform.
The event carried on with exciting general knowledge quizzes, puzzles and chess contests. There were also painting demonstration and displays. Prior to the distribution of awards, the students cheerfully presented music performances to close the event. We challenged our students to develop their creativity and self-confidence. These are necessary skills to acquire as we want our students to be accomplished, not only in academic subjects but also talented, creative and confident in other aspects of life!
