As the new year begins, the students of Pengalusan and Jatituhu embark on a journey of learning, creativity, and personal growth. They actively participated in end-of-semester assessments, receiving school books report, new semester academic learning and a variety of enriching activities, including the celebration of Balinese Language and Script Month, a gender equality-themed volleyball competition, leadership training, and practical learning in nutrition, vocational exploration, and hands-on projects in bamboo crafting, and English language development. Here is a summary of their activities during the December–March 2025 period.
In December students created Christmas greeting cards as a token of gratitude for the donors who have supported them in 2024 and some students focusing on the preparation of their big performance due to attended the invitation of the annual Shanti Foundation anniversary celebration. Some students performed a drama entailed “The Inspiration of Ramayana for Education and Empowerment in Ban Village” collaborated with outstanding traditional Balinese gamelan by our talented students.
February was marked as Balinese Language and Script Month, and for the first time, EBPP held a celebration by organizing the Darma Gita competition (a traditional Balinese chanting contest). The event featured 13 pairs of male and female participants from all EBPP schools, with Pengalusan students emerging as the winners!
In their weekly bamboo craft skills classes, students continued creating bamboo works of art, including wall clocks and simple furniture, following their previous projects of balanced dragonflies and pencil holders. Pengalusan students demonstrated outstanding craftsmanship, achieving the best results and learning at the fastest pace, reflecting their natural skills and strong dedication.
In the youth empowerment extracurricular classes, students explored sex education, participated in a leadership training camp, and learned various skills such as weaving with lontar leaves, knot tying, and leadership development. They also had the opportunity to visit the Lontar Museum, enriching their understanding of Bali’s cultural heritage. Additionally, junior high school students gained valuable knowledge about nutrition through the "Healthy Cooking Program," where they learned to select and prepare nutritious meals. In sports competitions, two teams from Pengalusan and Jatituhu excelled in a gender equality-themed volleyball tournament, securing first and third place respectively.
Some students from Pengalusan, as active members of the English Club, participate in weekly sessions to enhance their English language skills. With aspirations to work in the tourism sector, they engage in structured training focused on speaking, interview techniques, and vocabulary development, equipping them with essential skills for future career opportunities after graduation.
We deeply appreciate the generosity of our donors in supporting the programs in Jatituhu and Pengalusan schools. Your contributions empower students at EBPP to learn, grow, and build a better future.
