12 Sponsored Jatituhu Students Excel in Class and During Independence Day Events

By I Komang Kurniawan | Chairman & Team Leader

    • We are pleased to update the activities of our 12 Jatituhu School students, sponsored by GlobalGiving crowd funding donors
Six of the 12 Elementary school students took the National exams for graduating elementary school from 21 - 22 May 2017. They all had to learn in class and study at home more diligently, in order to answer all the mock previous exam questions our education team gave to our students to prepare them for their exams. As the actual government tests progressed, some children looked tense, because they were afraid they can’t answer the questions.
A few hours later, one by one, the students came out of the room, and we saw their smiles; they seemed happy and sure they had answered all the exam questions correctly.
In June 2017, all the students were excited because the announcement from the Government Education Department stated that they had all graduated - and they could continue their education to junior high school! EBPP team were of course very, very proud.
The next activity was practising for the celebration of Indonesia's 72nd Independence Day on the 17th of of August, which EBPP has celebrated annually since 2002, with students from our 6 schools deciding on the creative activities they would perform in front of all fellow students and an audience of hundreds of local people and guests.
The celebration this year was very crowded and festive as all EBPP students gathered in one location. The event started with the flag raising ceremony, followed by several fun field competitions: 2 of Jatituhu students competed in the hurdles, and one came second; 2 competed in the Sack race, where one came 3rd; 2 of competed in the Crazy rope event, with Jatituhu School coming 3rd; and 2 of joined the “Moving water with long straws from one bottle to another” – and were the champions! Hooray!!
Creativities performances followed, with three Jatituhu students, sponsored by the Crowd funding, performing the traditional Balinese dance named “ Puspanjali” dance, a welcome dance, with a very agile movement that made all the spectators cheer, gining our students a very warm feeling, comforted and unnerved. In addition there were 5 children who participated in the "Photo voices” drama, to educate the audience about the students in the school who learnt to use the camera to take photos about the existing issues in their village that they presented to the local and regional government, illustrated through the photo.
The students of Jatituhu have excellent talents, they are very good at performing drama, andmost of the text in the drama is developed by them and guided and trained by the staff of EBPP.
    • This last 3 months have been extremely exciting and all the sponsored students have made very good progress and they felt very proud and grateful for the help of the crowd funding donors, without which they could not continue studying in school.
      THANK YOU
