The US government has terminated Humanity & Inclusion's activities to support people with disabilities at refugee camps in Thailand along the border with Myanmar/Burma. With your support, we can continue providing rehabilitation care and mental health services to displaced individuals, and ensure that people with disabilities have access to education, job opportunities and social services.
The U.S. Department of State's Bureau for Population, Refugees and Migration has terminated funding for activities that provide rehabilitation care, mental health support and other services for Rohingya refugees and other displaced individuals along the Thai-Myanmar border. Life-saving activities have come to a halt, leaving people with disabilities without access to critical services.
With continued funding, HI can resume life-saving activities that help people with disabilities live with dignity. Experts provide specialized rehabilitation care, offering physical therapy and mobility aids to help people with injuries or disabilities gain more independence. Through individual and group mental health sessions, individuals learn coping strategies and self-care practices. More broadly, HIs and its partners help break down stigma around disability and promote inclusivity.
Provide ongoing rehabilitation services to 300 people with disabilities. Train dozens of frontline workers in the camps on mental health techniques, including psychological first aid and person-centered communication skills. Conduct mental health awareness-raising sessions and provide coping mechanisms for managing stress and trauma to hundreds of people.
