Summary

LIBERIA. The world watched as Liberian kids as young as 10 years old were exploited as armed combatants. We aim to provide groups of former child soldiers a program to help them recover from their trauma and obtain the skills necessary for social reintegration. KENYA. We collaborate with the local initiative 'Help Me Home Kenya'. This initiative focuses on reintegrating former women convicts back into society. Organization provides mental health services, counseling, and vocational training.

Challenge

LIBERIA. During the two Liberian Civil Wars, children were recruited as soldiers and forced to fight rather than obtain an education. They were left with deep psychological wounds and drastically limited opportunities, which they treat with narcotics and alcohol. KENYA. Reintegration into society is a challenge for former convicts, many face rejection and a lack of opportunities. Help Me Home Kenya effort enables participants to gain financial independence and a stable place in their communities

Solution

LIBERIA. Our initiatives are empowering youth and former child soldiers with sustainable business opportunities: 1) Increase resources to drive higher output at laundry ; 2) Expand Training by equipping more individuals with business and technical skills to support long-term reintegration. KENYA. Ms. Margaret Wambui's Help Me Home Kenya has already transformed lives by integrating former convicts back into society through tailored vocational programs in tailoring, hairdressing and home care.

Long-Term Impact

LIBERIA. Our effort is focused on equipping ventures with the skills and support they need in supporting reintegration of former child soldiers. Successfully reintegrated child soldiers contribute in creating resilient communities. KENYA. Ms. Wambui serves as an example of the power of a vision and how far one vision can reach. Her work transforms lives and proves how targeted interventions can address systemic challenges. Initiatives provide a pathway to financial and social independence.
