Initiative Overview
Action 10 continues its collaboration with local African initiatives that empower small-scale social entrepreneurs facing financial challenges. In Kenya, we support Help Me Home Kenya, led by Ms. Margaret Wambui, an initiative dedicated to reintegrating former convicts — with a particular focus on women — back into society.
Impact to Date
Over the past three years, Help Me Home Kenya has provided essential support services, including:
Mental health services and counseling
Vocational training in tailoring, hairdressing, and home care
The program addresses the significant barriers former convicts face, such as social rejection and limited employment opportunities. By combining psychosocial support with practical skills training, the initiative enables participants to rebuild their lives, achieve financial independence, and regain a stable role in their communities.
Current Challenges
Despite its strong impact, the organization faces resource and equipment constraints that limit its ability to:
Train additional participants
Scale production activities
Increase income-generation opportunities
Potential of Financial Support
Access to a business loan or additional financial support would allow Help Me Home Kenya to:
Scale production and increase economic impact
Expand vocational training to reach more individuals
Strengthen long-term financial stability
Ensure continued access to critical mental health support for participants
Looking Ahead
Ms. Wambui’s leadership demonstrates the transformative power of local entrepreneurship. By empowering women — who often face particularly limited employment prospects — Help Me Home Kenya creates pathways to financial independence, social reintegration, and personal growth.
With adequate financial support, the initiative can overcome current limitations and significantly broaden its sustainable impact in the community.
