Thanks to your generous donations, the students who participated in our Sexual Education and Social Education and Career Training course have just finished their social and career training (Life Skills) successfully! Read on to find out more about the positive experiences of those involved. Life Skills classes have been running smoothly and are improving after a year’s trial. In the second year the program grew stronger and more successful, with our students enjoying the opportunity to take part in many interesting and exciting projects.
In August 2013, our life skill students took the final exam of their training course. As a result, all the students passed the exam and will receive a certificate. To celebrate their success, we arranged a final visit to ACCB “Angkor Centre for Conservation of Biodiversity www.accbcambodia.org” on the 21st of September 2013.The aim is to promote and urge students to understand the values of Wild Animal Conservation and other beneficiaries from the wild animal protection.
Furthermore, Life Skills students encouraged and motivated their friends to attend the future Life Skills program. Previously, they were organized in groups to present to the next generation for recruitment in 2012-2013. This year again, Life skills students would like to share what they have learnt. On the 19th of Sept 2013, Life Skills students presented to all English classes to inspire other students to enroll for the third year of Life Skills classes for 2013-2014. They are particularly keen to share their experience with parties who have supported the program, including GlobalGiving. In the Impact Documents, students reflected on their learning and thought about the impact the program has had on their lives.
Hun Pitou tells of her positive experiences following the Life Skills program, “I am very happy when I am studying this program. I think that it is an important lesson because it improves my knowledge and my skills such as communication skills, how to do presentations, how to write a CV and cover letter, to know the interview tips and path to success in the job interview, how to manage my time, know seven points for success in the future, ten ways to improve my interpersonal skill as well as gaining various knowledge from Karol & Setha workshop (Sexual Education Training). Furthermore, I gained more experiences and knowledge when visiting hotels and the employment service center during the course. The importance and usefulness for me is that I can share all skills, knowledge and experiences with my friends and family and apply them in my work during and after the course. Finally, I would like to say a million thanks to Salariin Kampuchea that develops this program to provide Life skill training to me and all my classmates”.
In the next three months, we would like to recruit new life skill students for the third year of life skill generation. We are very proud to have provided this program, and we would like to thank all donors who supported us through Global Giving. With the help of our partners at Global Giving, and you, we hope to keep building on this and moving forward with our personal and career training programme.
Warm regards,
The Salariin Kampuchea Team
