Now we have one Group of Village Association for Loan and Credit in Kalemie City
In March 2026 we organized capacity building to 20 young people among them 7 refugees, 7 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and 6 young people from the host communities. They were capacitate in the creation and management of the group, business tips, making an association and women’s rights, this took us four days. This was made possible through the funding from Children’s Rights Innovation Fund and will grant starting capital to the 20 young people who were trained.
We believe that enabling IDPs and refugees to get involved in livelihood activities is one among the best approaches in order to increase their protection space. DRC has better opportunities for people to live on their own rather than depending always on relief aid over the years which even does no longer exist currently.
Our priorities will remain capacity building and offering starting capital to refugees and IDPs in order to get involved in livelihood activities so that they can respond to their basic needs.
Kalemie City and its surrounding hosts thousands of refugees and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) who do not have access to relief aid and who are living together with host communities who are also too poor because they were also in Camps in the past and are just returning back home.
