Empowering Teachers Through Collaborative Learning

At the end of 2025, students completed their first semester evaluations and received their report cards. Parents were invited to attend, creating an important opportunity for teachers and families to reflect together on each student’s progress and learning journey. As the new semester began, our teaching team also welcomed a valuable opportunity for professional growth through a collaborative learning program with an experienced educator supporting EBPP.

In mid-January, EBPP welcomed the return of volunteer educator Chris Frankland for a two-week training visit. During this time, teachers worked closely with him to continue developing the Cooperative Learning approaches he first introduced in mid-2024.

The program focused on strengthening practical classroom strategies, especially for teachers working in the lower elementary grades. Training sessions explored effective ways to support literacy and numeracy development. A key principle emphasized during the workshops was that reading, writing, and basic numeracy should be taught in an integrated way through meaningful activities rather than as separate subjects.

Through workshops and collaborative discussions, teachers practiced designing lessons that actively engage students while strengthening foundational skills. These approaches encourage students to think critically, participate in group discussions, and build confidence as active learners.

Teachers also held reflective sessions to review their teaching practices and examine the syllabus, particularly for Grades 1–3. Together they explored how lessons can better match the cognitive development of younger students by making learning more concrete, contextual, and interactive.

This two-week collaboration provided meaningful professional development and reinforced the value of student-centered teaching. By integrating literacy, numeracy, and cooperative learning strategies, EBPP teachers continue working to create engaging learning environments that support every student’s growth and potential.

Empowering Educators, Elevating Learning

Over the past four months, EBPP teachers have continued to grow professionally through various trainings, workshops, and monthly Learning Community discussions aimed at improving teaching quality and student learning outcomes.

As part of our professional development, English teachers joined two workshops at the Indonesia Australia Language Foundation (IALF) Bali: Creating Engaging Activities and Lesson Plans (16 August 2025) and Effective Methods for Teaching Speaking and Listening (5 October 2025). These sessions strengthened our ability to design creative, interactive, and student-centred lessons that enhance student engagement and confidence.

EBPP teachers also held monthly Learning Community meetings to discuss classroom challenges, share best practices, and explore strategies to improve teaching across all schools. The discussions focused on Competency Credit Standards, student behaviour management through a point-based system, the psychological impact of social media, and literacy improvement through read-aloud activities and illustrated short stories created by our art teacher. Additionally, the public relations (Humas) team conducted regular home visits to students at all levels to identify personal challenges and provide tailored support, ensuring that every learner receives the attention they need to thrive.

In October, teachers also participated in a training on Lesson Planning with the Deep Learning Model and Coding and the Use of Technology in Teaching, organized by the Local Government Education Office. This program helped us integrate innovative and technology-based approaches into classroom learning, making lessons more dynamic and relevant.

Teachers Build Capacity - Students Flourish

From April to June 2025, EBPP teachers focused on exam preparation, student performances, and professional development through digital and curriculum training.

Grade 6^th, 9^th and 12^th support and final exam preparation
Grade 12 students completed their exams on April 25, 28, 29, and 30, with 29 students officially graduating on May 5. Grade 9 junior high students took their exams from May 5 to 8, while 4 grade 6 elementary students sat for their exams from April 25 to 30 and were officially declared graduates on June 2. A graduation celebration was held at the EBPP Ban office on June 11, organized by the Empower program. These milestones were achieved thanks to intensive teaching sessions and the strong commitment of EBPP teachers, who have guided these students over the past 12 years from being illiterate to becoming agents of change and role models in their respective communities. Congratulations to all graduates!

Annual Education Day Preparation

Starting in April, in the lead-up to National Education Day on May 2nd, we guided students in singing, poetry, traditional chanting (Darma Gita), painting, quiz competitions, speed reading, and bamboo chair-making. These efforts provided a platform for students to showcase their talents, build confidence on stage, and celebrate learning through creative expression.

Monthly learning community meetings

In our regular monthly learning community meetings April-June, we shared teaching experiences, reflected together, and designed more inclusive and joyful strategies for our students.

Canva and visual learning tools training
In May 19^thand June 2^nd, teachers attended a two-day training on visual learning tools, with a focus on using Canva for interactive lesson materials, student worksheets, and visual storytelling. The aim was to integrate creativity and digital literacy into classroom delivery.

Semester test, report card preparation & parent engagement
Following the Semester 2 exams from June 9–13, teachers held reflective sessions on student progress and challenges. On June 20, teachers engaged in report card meetings with parents, providing individual feedback and receiving valuable input to improve teaching and support strategies. On the same day, students were officially promoted to the next academic level.

Academic Year Readiness Planning
in June 23^rd, were held curriculum reflection to finalize structures, schedules, and updated curriculum outlines for the new academic year 2025-2026. Teachers also shared individual goals and commitments to foster inclusive and active learning environments.
