By Ni Nengah Merdekawati | EBPP English teacher
Striving to continuously improve our students learning experience, by applying the Government’s new 2022 ‘Merdeka’ (freedom) curriculum, our curriculum development team have provided training for all EBPP teachers so that students’ learning can be more systematic and structured.
The Merdeka curriculum gives freedom for teachers to determine learning materials related to problems that exist in the students' environmentsand choose topics that suit the needs of students to ensure that learning activities at school become more useful in daily life. The teachers have also prepared learning tools and student assessments so that the values obtained -of attitudes, attendance, assignments, projects, and exams - can be maximized and real.
Similarly with non-academic classteachers, such as the Art teacher, who selects topics that are appropriate to the circumstances of the surrounding environment so that students are able to express and balance their love for nature, culture, religion, etc., while with the"comic stories” theme, students are able to tell stories of situations around them and develop creative ideas through pictures.
The Music teacher coordinates students by grouping them into new groups and old groups. The new group learned Basic Chords while the old group learned Pentatonic skills.
Meanwhile, our extra-curricular youth empowerment facilitators teachers develop relevant topics for students to prepare for their future lives and innovate by inviting expert of agriculture, gender equality, content creators for learning to make and edit videos, etc., in order to maximize students' understanding of the fields they study and build new skills and expertise.
The latest and most exciting for our high school students is the Extra English Club. Based on the strong desire of students to significantly improve their English, Club members learn together with varied creative activities for improving their speaking, listening, reading and writing skills, including songs, videos and English speaking guests for general conversation.
We will continue to try and innovate in order to be able to serve students better. We hope that donors will continue to provide support to help us, the teachers to continue offering the best learning experiences for a better future for students.
