3.0 ACHIEVEMENTS FOR THE PERIOD UNDER REVIEW
3.1 Learning Squared Liberia Launches Peace for Education at ROSODAN School
Learning Squared Liberia officially launched the Peace for Education Initiative (Pilot Program) at ROSODAN School System in Margibi County. The launch brought together more than 30 participants, including parents, teachers, students, and school administrators.
During the launch, a donation of $7,080.00 seven thousand and eighty dollars (LD) was presented to the elected student leadership, who expressed appreciation for the program and their willingness to support the program goals. Ms. Jennis Rue explained that the program will run for a six-month period, during which students will actively participate in peer mediation, leadership development, and peace-promoting activities.
The program seeks to address the gap in structured peacebuilding education by training students as Youth Peace Ambassadors, establishing a Peace Club, and equipping teachers with peace-sensitive and trauma-informed approaches. By addressing challenges such as bullying and peer conflict, the program aims to strengthen discipline, improve student behavior, foster a lasting culture of peace, and enhance peace literacy and student leadership. The pilot also provides a model for future expansion to other schools across Liberia.
Selected students are being trained as Youth Peace Ambassadors, gaining skills in peer mediation, emotional intelligence, conflict resolution, and leadership. Participating students have expressed great excitement and appreciation for the opportunity to make a positive contribution to their school community.
A Peace Club has been established, comprising 20 participants, to encourage dialogue, teamwork, and student engagement in peace-related activities. In parallel, teachers are receiving peace-sensitive and trauma-informed training to support students better and manage conflicts constructively. Throughout the pilot phase, progress is being monitored, and feedback is being gathered to ensure effective implementation. By the end of the three months, the initiative aims to enhance peace literacy among students, strengthen student leadership and responsibility, reduce incidents of bullying and peer conflict, and foster a harmonious and supportive school climate.
2.2 Educational Support Commitment for Girls – FY26
Learning Squared Liberia has committed to providing support to ten (10) girls, aged 7–15 years, during the FY26 academic year as part of its ongoing efforts to promote access to quality education and advance girls’ education in Liberia. This support is designed to reduce financial barriers that often prevent girls, particularly those from underprivileged and rural communities, from continuing their education. The support is expected to contribute to improved school attendance, retention, and academic performance among the selected beneficiaries. Learning Squared Liberia will monitor the progress of the beneficiaries throughout the academic year to ensure the effective use of support and the achievement of positive educational outcomes.
3.5 Recommendations and Conclusion
Learning Squared Liberia extends sincere appreciation to its supporters, donors, GlobalGiving, local communities, and the school administration for their commitment and support toward the successful implementation of the project. Learning Squared Liberia remains committed to working with children across Liberia, with a particular focus on underprivileged children in rural and underserved communities, to promote peaceful learning environments and inclusive education for all.
