Celebrating 2025: A Year of Growth with Unplastify

As 2025 comes to a close, we're reflecting on an incredible year of growth, learning, and environmental action. At Unplastify, we've witnessed the power of education to create lasting change. Thanks to your support, we've been able to reach more students, schools, and communities, expanding our mission and empowering them to lead change.

This year has been transformative for our educational programs, and we're excited to share some of the highlights with you.

2025 By the Numbers

  • Over 650 young people participated in our Educational Challenge across 22 countries
  • More than 65 mentors worldwide engaged with our programs
  • 141 student-led projects transformed everyday challenges into opportunities for change
  • New partnerships established through GlobalGiving to expand our reach

But behind every number is a real action led by students. In the 12th edition of the Unplastify Challenge for Schools, more than 300 students from 14 countries designed and implemented 60+ plastic-reduction strategies, turning awareness into tangible change.

Among many inspiring initiatives, one student-led project stood out:

Singapore – Turning the School Canteen into a Plastic-Free Space

The winning team of this past edition chose to focus on where plastic was impossible to ignore: the school canteen, where nearly every lunch was served in styrofoam. Instead of small fixes, they set an ambitious goal—to eliminate styrofoam entirely.

Through their BYOB (Bring Your Own Box) Campaign, they invited classmates to be part of the solution, offering incentives for bringing reusable containers and opening conversations across the school. Their persistence paid off: the canteen replaced styrofoam with biodegradable cardboard boxes. To ensure the change would last, the students even connected the canteen staff with a wholesale supplier.

They have proven that when young people lead, entire communities can change.

Looking Ahead to 2026

As we close this chapter, we're already planning for an even more impactful 2026. With your continued support, we aim to:

  • Expand our programs to reach more schools in underserved communities
  • Develop new educational resources and tools for teachers
  • Train more facilitators to deliver our programs locally
  • Strengthen partnerships that amplify student voices and projects

Join Us in Making 2026 Our Biggest Year Yet

Your support makes all of this possible. As we celebrate the achievements of 2025, we invite you to continue being part of this movement into the new year.
