This project supports 5,000 internally displaced children in Mali affected by terrorism and conflict. It will provide temporary learning spaces, school kits, teacher training, and psychosocial support, ensuring access to safe, inclusive, and quality education. By reducing dropout, protecting children, and strengthening community awareness, the project will restore hope and build resilience for displaced families.
Armed conflict and terrorism in Mali have displaced over 400,000 people, the majority of them children. Thousands of schools have been closed or destroyed, forcing children out of classrooms. Displaced children face school dropout, trauma, exploitation, and social exclusion. Without urgent support, they risk losing their right to education and a chance for a better future, worsening cycles of poverty and instability.
This project will give displaced children access to safe, quality education by creating temporary learning spaces and rehabilitating classrooms in host areas. It will provide school kits, textbooks, and teaching materials to ensure learning continues. Teachers will be trained to support children with inclusive and psychosocial approaches, while recreational and counseling activities help reduce trauma. By combining education, protection, and community awareness, the project will reduce dropout,
By restoring access to education, this project will help displaced children regain stability, protection, and hope. Education reduces the risk of child labor, exploitation, and radicalization while strengthening social cohesion in host communities. In the long term, children will acquire the knowledge and skills needed to break cycles of poverty and contribute to peace, resilience, and sustainable development in Mali.
