Visit to Forest Department for exposure
Greetings to all Friends of VOICE Trust!!
By introducing children to farming, they can learn valuable lessons about where their food comes from, the benefits of eating fresh and healthy produce, and how to care for animals and the environment.
Parents can take a proactive role in teaching their children about food and farming by involving them in the process. They can take them to visit local farms, and farmer’s markets or even start their own garden at home. This will allow children to experience the process of growing and harvesting fruits and vegetables firsthand, and develop an appreciation for the hard work and care that goes into producing our food.
Priya, a 8th grade student who was trained in agriculture is contributing 12% of her family income through agriculture. Now, she is asking us to give training for her mother in Banana Value added products so that it can be a sustainable income for them.
Thank you to all supporters who are continously helping us in creating Young Agriculture Entrepreneurs since 2009 and hundreds of them have been trained and many of them are successful. Just like Priya, Ishwarya is from a daily wage family and she has set up a kitchen garden, the waste water from kitchen is used for watering plants. She has more than 20 varieties of vegetables like bitter guard, pumpkin, bottle guard and many more.
The increase of interest among children is seen to get higher day by day. And the old Children are requesting for seeds or saplings. As we have one month for environment day more special programs are being planned. We will continue to give awareness, training, exposures about agriculture, strong results may not be visible today but for sure in future this activity will create a high impact among the next generation and thank you all for being there and supporting us today!!
Additionally, we are encouraging parents to try new foods and introduce them to a wide variety of fruits and vegetables. By doing so, children can develop healthy eating habits and appreciate the different flavours and textures of different foods.
It’s important to remember that teaching children about food and farming is not just about what we eat, but also about the impact of farming on the environment and our society. By supporting local farmers and choosing to buy sustainably produced food, we can contribute to a healthier and more sustainable food system for future generations.
VOICE Trust puts one more request to you all dear friends.
