Family Garden
John is pictured here with his siblings. And it's hard to imagine, but John is the head of the family. He looks after his siblings with the assistance of some locals since his parents passed away in 2012.
John has the responsibility to see that Mary, Shupi and Farai have food on their table. As you can see, their garden is quite green but they need some help finding the right spot for some of the vegetables. We have engaged some local families to help teach this young man how to transplant his plants properly.
This family can achieve so much with this beautiful garden and the right support. Thanks to your donations, we are able to give them a chance to grow their own food and attend school. And that means more than you know to this brother as he cares for his siblings.
Please contact Tanya Weaver at tweaver@afcaids.org if you would like to learn more about this program or others provided by the American Foundation for Children with AIDS.

Do you ever ask yourself if you are actually making a difference? Perhaps you feel so small in this great big world? Do you wonder if the donation you made ever touches the life of a child affected by HIV/AIDS?
Take a moment to look at the attached photos and really enjoy the smile on the man's face. How about all the green vegetation for the families YOU have directly touched. Your donation made it possible for the American Foundation for Children with AIDS to build greenhouses in Mombasa. Providing food for families where widows and grandmothers are raising children affected by HIV/AIDS.
So today you can be sure that you DID made a difference in the life of a child. Many children! Now they can dream because they have gardens and greenhouses. Life has so many more possibilities now! Thank you for making a difference.

Greenhouse Update in Pictures!

Greenhouse
Don't you love to see photos of the leafy green vegetables from the greenhouses in Mombasa?
How about all of those papaya hanging from the trees?
We are thrilled with the harvests and what they mean for our families. However, it feels like we're spinning our wheels by renting a truck for a few months at a time. The vegetables need to get to market to keep the program thriving, but we haven't been able to purchase a truck. Not to mention the number of papaya they will need to harvest from the 1500 papaya trees we've planted!
Are you up for a challenge? From April 27 through May 1, thousands of people across the world are coming together to unite against extreme poverty. Will YOU be one of them? Go to www.afcaids.org/live to learn more and to sign up.
