Dear Supporters,
In the past few months, our team has done several teacher trainings. In this newsletter, we would like to share two of them with you, as each one was unique in its own way.
In August, we visited two different locations in Sumatra. One training took place in a city, while the other was held further south in a rural area of the island. The settings were quite different, but what stood out most was how much these teachers had in common. At both locations, we met passionate teachers. Their backgrounds varied. Some had studied at university, while for others this was the very first formal teacher training they ever received. Yet they all shared the same passion: helping children learn and grow.
Every day, these teachers work with children who face challenges. Many of them struggle in school, but all are eager to learn how to read and discover new things. These teachers are there to encourage them, support them, and help them move forward.
The schools themselves were also very different. Some classrooms were bright and well equipped, while others could benefit from some improvements. But once again, the similarities were more important than the differences. What we saw were teachers doing their very best to create a safe and welcoming environment where children can learn.
We are grateful for every opportunity to equip and encourage these teachers as they work to provide quality education for the children in their communities. Thanks to your support, trainings like these can continue, helping teachers make a lasting difference in the lives of their students. Together, we are giving more children the opportunity to learn, grow, and discover a love of reading.
