Football and Education Graduation

A total of 40 youth from Blue boys FC were awarded with certificates signed by Arsenal FC’s manager Arsene Wenger after successfully graduating from Double Club program. The program entails sessions that are usually take one and a half hour in length, reflecting a football match with forty five minutes in the classroom and forty five minutes football coaching with Double club coaches
Double club is an innovative education and football programme which offers a range of subjects, together with football coaching aiming to fuse football and education to form a fun and enjoyable way for young people to engage with their academic studies and football at the same time. Blue Boys double club graduates had a footie smile as they also received ultra-durable balls that brings transformative power of play to the hundreds of millions of youth who don’t even have something as simple as a ball.They balls were donated by VAP courtesy of One world play project.

A graduation of Football and Education Skills

Even as form four students from NPC High school are on the tail end of graduating from high school in the next few days joining thousands of other form four students across the nation, Double club program graduation came in handy as a pricasa of their graduation from the Kenya certificate of secondary examination (KCSE).Over 40 students from NPC High school had an opportunity to improve their football skills and English literacy through Double club program which aims to inspire and motivate pupils at primary and secondary level using football as a hook to instill education and show pupils learning can be achievable, rewarding and fun. All Double club graduates received certificates signed by Arsenal FC manager Arsene Wenger.”My football skills and English literacy levels have improved a lot. The English language and literacy part of Double Club program assisted me so well even in my KCSE English papers that I have just done.”Said 17 years old Wilfred Kamanja. “Double Club program has really improved football and English skills of NPC students. Gone are the days when people thought that being a footballer makes you an academic dwarf.” Said Mr. Patrick Lungashi a teacher at NPC.

Kits Donation

Participants of VAP’s Double Club program in Kiambio and Jericho areas of Nairobi had a footie smiling reason when they received football gears donated by Arsenal football club. Kiambio and Jericho participants are the first batch of double club participants to ever graduate through double club program that fuses education and literacy through football. The Arsenal kits recipients, whom majorities are under 12, will use the gears in their junior football leagues. Through the unwavering commitment and support from a handful of VAP’s dedicated coaches, Double club program continues to gain grounds and popularity in various communities as well as being mainstreamed in VAP’s programs."Since i started participating in Double Club program,i have improved my english grammar and my writings with correct spellings have improved as well as my basic football skills." Said 14 year old Juma from Jericho centre.
