Tornadoes have devastated parts of Tennessee, leaving hundreds homeless and in need of basic necessities. This fund will provide diapers and other basic needs requested by our partner agencies in the area, who are recovering and rebuilding. Our local partners will distribute supplies directly to people in need. When we think about disaster recovery, we tend to think about hunger, homelessness and clean water. Diapers and other care essentials are often overlooked, yet crucial, basic needs.
Diapers and other hygiene care items are overlooked basic needs and many caregivers are forced to choose between items like food OR diapers. Tornadoes have devastated swaths of Tennessee, leaving those individuals who rely on diapers struggling to meet basic diapering and caregiving needs. All babies deserve to be clean, dry and healthy.
By providing desperately needed and requested donations only, we are helping local organizations leverage the funds they have available to better care for their people in other ways. We are partnering with the Community Resource Center Nashville for disaster relief efforts for Davidson, Wilson and Putnam counties; those hardest hit by last week's tornadoes. The local organization will distribute supplies directly to the families impacted.
As our partner organizations in Tennessee continue to have their diaper needs solved, they are able to save funds and plan for future improvements in their care. This can mean adding educational programs, offering better healthcare, improved quality of food (more protein!) - all steps that set these babies up for long term survival and productive members of society.
