Happy Autumn to our wonderful GlobalGiving community!
September is World Alzheimer's Month and we have been busy with community screenings of The Genius of Marian.
This past month, Susan Rowlett, Program Director, Dementia Care Services from Massachussetts General Hospital hosted a screening of The Genius of Marian in the Boston area. My sister, Devon White Angelini and Dr. Brent Forester, Chief, Division of Geriatric Psychiatry from McLean Hospital facilitiated a Q&A after the screening. Over 60 caregivers and medical professionals filled the room and engaged in lively discussion about Alzheimer's and caregiving. Many were quite moved by the film and appreciated the candor discussion after.
We are also thrilled to share that Devon and Susan are in the beginning stages of designing a Mindfulness for Caregivers workshop that will be beneficial to both the caregiver and the person living with Alzheimer's. The workshop will be a retreat for caregivers and focus on mindfulness practices for caregivers.
Thank you so much for your generosity, love and kindness. Due to your ongoing support we are able to continue to serve caregivers through The Genius of Caring site. Individuals who have created profiles and shared their stories have told us how much they appreciate the space to share stories of their loved one with others and feel a sense of community and less isolation. We are grateful our work has provided a space for caregivers and their loved ones to share their experiences.
In deep appreciation,
Banker
"The Genius of Marian and The Genius of Caring have been huge factors in giving me courage to speak up. By speaking out we change the perception of Alzheimer's and support caregivers.”
