Dear GlobalGiving Community,
Menstrual health care is often neglected in emergency responses, despite its critical importance during crises. We extend our sincere gratitude for your continued support, which enables us to provide essential menstrual health resources to refugee women, girls and people with periods globally. Your generosity allows us to address critical needs and empower communities during these challenging times.
The situation in Lebanon has drastically worsened in recent weeks. According to Lebanon’s Health Ministry, more than 1,000 people have lost their lives due to Israeli airstrikes over the last two weeks, and nearly 1 million people — close to one-fifth of Lebanon’s population — have been displaced as they flee the bombardment. The impact of this escalation has been devastating, adding new layers of hardship to an already dire situation marked by economic instability, inflation, and widespread power outages.
Despite these immense challenges, our resolve remains strong. Our Days for Girls Social Enterprise team, made up primarily of Syrian refugee women, has been on the ground in North Lebanon, responding swiftly to the needs of displaced families. This week, we distributed 100 washable DfG Kits to Syrian refugees, ensuring that these women and girls have access to basic menstrual health products. Over the next week, we will distribute an additional 250 kits to displaced Lebanese families who have fled the conflict in Beirut and are now seeking refuge in converted schools and private homes in the north.
Our team has already begun distributing menstrual Kits and other essential hygiene supplies to those most affected by this crisis, and we will continue to do so in the coming week. While travel and operations remain dangerous due to the ongoing violence, we are doing everything we can to meet the urgent needs of these communities, providing them with the dignity and care they deserve during this difficult time.
In addition to our efforts in Lebanon, we have continued to support refugees in Ukraine and Poland, sending 1,670 menstrual kits to those in need during this last quarter. The demand for menstrual health supplies remains high as women and girls in crisis settings struggle to access even the most basic necessities.
As we look ahead, we will focus on raising funds to expand our reach to even more displaced people, ensuring that menstrual health remains a priority amid the different crises. Your ongoing support is crucial in helping us continue this important work.
On behalf of the Days for Girls team, we thank you for standing by us and the women and girls we serve during this unprecedented time. Your generosity is a beacon of hope, providing critical resources and restoring dignity to those who need it most.
With heartfelt thanks,
The Days for Girls Team
