Please support Kono Gnaga's mission to uphold the rich cultural arts traditions for the next generation of Mali! We are seeking $10,000 to expand our programs outside of Bamako, working with schools and communities in the Segou region. This year we will work with 6 schools in Bamako and two schools in Segou teaching dance to students and a holding community festivals in both Bamako and Segou. This will allow us to reach local artists, schools, and communities in rural regions of Mali!
Intangible cultural heritage provides context-specific content for education programs and increases the relevance and quality of education. Kono Gnaga has been successful with our programs in the capital of Bamako, but it is time to expand into the more underserved rural areas. We can begin this year with $10,000 to help us continue to implement our programs and add partnerships with schools and communities in the Segou region.
We will provide a traditional dance and drum program schools Bamako and Segou and bring people together for a community festivals. Your support will help us expand our reach outside the capital to underserved areas and help us uphold the rich cultural arts heritage for the next generation of Mali!
The festival will as always complement the academic programs for students placing the school at the center of the community event. The program and the final festival will promote social cohesion, through a celebration of culture and traditions and the beautiful diversity in Mali. This is extremely important given the current context of continued internal conflict that Mali faces. Your support will help us with this work!
