Dear Kono Gnaga Friends and Family,
Although this year’s activities were held exclusively in Bamako, the festival continued to showcase the power of traditional music and dance to bring young people together. Students across several partner schools immersed themselves in the workshops, rehearsals, and performances that honored Mali’s diverse cultural traditions.
To support students beyond the stage, each participant received essential school supplies, helping ensure they are prepared for success throughout the academic year.Throughout the festival, teachers observed meaningful shifts in student engagement. Many reported that participants showed greater confidence, stronger collaboration with peers, and a renewed sense of pride in their cultural identity. These outcomes reaffirm the importance of arts-based programming in strengthening both academic and social development.
Looking ahead, we hope to bring the festival back to rural communities, including areas around Ségou, and expand opportunities for students outside the capital to participate in the coming year.
Thank you for continuing to invest in Mali’s youth and cultural future. We could not do this without you!
Peace and Blessings,
Solo Sana and the Kono Gnaga Board of Directors
