In India, millions of girls are silenced by poverty, early marriage, digital exclusion and limited access to education. This project will equip 100 girls with leadership training through our 11 week Global Girl Leadership Initiative. Guided by local women facilitators from our local partners, they will identify community challenges, design solutions, and lead public events. By investing in their leadership, we help girls stay in school and drive change that reaches far beyond themselves.
Across India, millions of children grow up in poverty, with over 200 million lacking access to basic services such as education, healthcare and sanitation. Girls are disproportionately affected, often leaving school early due to financial pressure, domestic responsibilities and early marriage. In marginalised communities, their voices are rarely prioritised. This project will equip 100 girls with leadership skills and mentorship to remain in education and drive community change.
This project will equip 100 girls with structured leadership training through our 11 week Global Girl Leadership Initiative, delivered by trusted local partners. Girls gain confidence, critical thinking and advocacy skills, and address issues such as early marriage, digital exclusion and menstrual stigma. Each cohort leads a community event, engaging families and local leaders. By strengthening girls' voice and visibility, the project shifts attitudes and supports girls to stay in education.
Building on our work with 290+ girls across India and 20+ community events reaching 2,400+ people, this project will support 100 more girls to become confident leaders. With 94% already reporting stronger leadership and 89% greater confidence, girls are more likely to remain in education and challenge harmful norms. Their advocacy influences families and communities, creating lasting shifts in attitudes towards girls' rights and opportunities.
