At the Sam Onyemaechi Humanitarian Foundation (SOHF), we believe that when young people are given practical opportunities, they can transform not only their own lives but also their communities. Across Southeastern Nigeria, many young people struggle with unemployment, poverty, and limited access to vocational opportunities. These challenges often leave talented and hardworking youth without a pathway to build a sustainable future.

The "Train S/East Youth in Snail & Fish Farming" project was created to address this challenge by equipping young people with practical agricultural skills that can generate income and create sustainable livelihoods. Through snail farming and fish farming training, youths gain handson knowledge that enables them to start small agribusiness ventures and contribute to food security in their communities.

Project Activities During This Period

During this reporting period, the project team has focused on preparation, planning, and community engagement to ensure the successful implementation of the training program.

Activities carried out include:

• Identifying potential youth participants across target communities • Developing training materials for snail farming and fish farming techniques • Engaging local agricultural experts who will support practical training sessions • Preparing demonstration plans for smallscale snail pens and fish ponds

Although resources are still limited, our team continues to work with determination to ensure that once funds are available, the training can begin immediately and impact as many youths as possible.

Little by Little GlobalGiving Fundraising Campaign (17–20 March)

We are excited to share that the Little by Little GlobalGiving fundraising campaign will take place from 17th to 20th March. This campaign, while matching funds remain, presents a powerful opportunity for supporters to directly empower young people in Southeastern Nigeria.

Funds raised during this campaign will help to:

• Provide training materials and practical equipment for snail and fish farming • Support handson workshops for participating youths • Establish demonstration farms where trainees can practice their skills • Provide mentorship and followup support to help youths start their own small farms

Even the smallest donation can make a meaningful difference. A simple act of generosity can help a young person gain the skills needed to become selfreliant and financially independent.

Why This Project Matters

Agriculture remains one of the most powerful tools for fighting poverty and unemployment in rural communities. Snail farming and fish farming require relatively small startup costs, yet they provide reliable income and nutritious food for families.

By training youths in these areas, we are not only empowering individuals but also strengthening food systems, creating local jobs, and restoring hope for many young people who are eager to build a better future.

Gratitude to Our Donors and Supporters

We want to express our deepest and most heartfelt gratitude to all our donors and supporters who believe in our mission. Your kindness, generosity, and encouragement continue to inspire our work.

Because of your support, projects like this are possible. You are giving young people hope, opportunity, and the chance to build a sustainable future for themselves and their families.

We are also sincerely grateful to GlobalGiving for providing a trusted platform that connects grassroots organizations like ours with compassionate supporters around the world. Their platform allows us to share our vision and bring meaningful change to underserved communities.

Looking Ahead

With continued support, we aim to:

• Launch the first phase of training for selected youths • Establish small demonstration farms for practical learning • Provide mentorship and guidance to help participants start their own farms • Expand the program to reach more youths across Southeastern Nigeria

With your help, this project will create lasting change by turning unemployed youth into skilled agricultural entrepreneurs.

Closing Reflection

Every young person deserves a chance to succeed. With the right skills, guidance, and encouragement, the youth of Southeastern Nigeria can become powerful drivers of economic growth and community development.

As the Little by Little campaign (17–20 March) approaches, we humbly invite our friends, donors, and supporters to stand with us once again. Your support, no matter how small, will go a long way in transforming lives.

Together, we can empower youth, strengthen communities, and build a more hopeful future.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Sam Onyemaechi Humanitarian Foundation (SOHF) Empowering communities. Transforming lives.
