The 2024 year is off to a great start at TWEENS.  Between January and March our Advanced level and Ordinary level tutoring continued with the usual frequency as we maintained the number of tutees for both programs. To empower our tutors, we hosted a workshop on the importance of giving back to our community. The workshop had the intention of rejuvenating the energy within the tutors as well as introducing the newly recruited tutors to the cultures, values and vision of TWEENS.

We as well hosted a separate motivational workshop with the tutees on the importance of education. Often resettlement and education seem to be at odds with one another. This workshop taught the learners to recognise and appreciate the energy and efforts provided by our volunteer tutors through encouraging them to work hard and focus on their studies. We also incorporated an aspect of career guidance as well as the importance of discipline in achieving all endeavours. As we had our newly recruited tutees in attendance at the workshop, the introduction of what TWEENS is and its purpose was emphasised on in this workshop .

We are proud to share that TWEENS was one of the Refugee Led Organization (RLOs) invited to the: ”UNHCR 2023-2026 multi year strategy review workshop.” TWEENS partipated through a ten minutes presentation as well as in the informed decision making on educational matters disusssions throughout the workshop.

TWEENS remains committed as by refugee youth for refugee youth to promote empowerment through education at Tongogara Refugee Camp in Zimbabwe.  Thank you for your continued support!
