Greetings from TWEENS,

We are proud to report that our A level Science students have been taking part in the first ever  Science Bootcamp at Gaza High School in Chipinge. TWEENS collaborated with the nearby Gaza High starting from September 2nd to September 30th, as our own facilities at TWEENS lack a laboratory. A total of four students, comprising two girls and two boys, participated in this A-level sciences intensive program. The schedule consisted of one week and three days dedicated to theoretical instruction, followed by the remaining days allocated for hands-on practical activities. Two teachers supported by the WUSC grant served as the dedicated teachers for biology and chemistry, providing the students with valuable insights and guidance throughout the program.

The students are residing with a TWEENS Mentor in Chipinge, who has reported that they are thriving in this environment and are engaged in continuous reading and study. Her feedback highlights the positive impact of the training, indicating that the students are successfully applying what they have learned. Furthermore, both teachers have affirmed that the students are performing well and are well-prepared for their assessments. TWEENS leaders made two visits to monitor their progress and were pleased to witness their commitment as they diligently completed their projects across all subjects during their time at the boot camp. This comprehensive approach to learning, combining theory with practical application, has clearly fostered an enriching educational experience for our students.

TWEENS is grateful to Gaza High School for welcoming our A-level students, The two designated Science teachers for their dedication and passion, the TWEENS Mentor who is hosting our 4 students in her home and the WUSC grant for funding TWEENS this first Science bootcamp. Thank you to our monthly GlobalGiving donors for ensuring that TWEENS is continuously operational.
