TWEENS Expands Programming for Refugee Youth

By Ancilla Niyerema | TWEENS Coordinator

As we thank you for your support of TWEENS Tongogara, in 2025, we are happy to give you an update, TWEENS is home to 21 A-Level students who are eagerly awaiting their examination results.  Furthermore, TWEENS successfully welcomed 196 students for our holiday lessons, encompassing a mix of Forms 1 to 5. This significant enrollment reflects our commitment to providing quality education and support for students at various academic levels

On December 23, 2025, TWEENS proudly hosted its inaugural TWEENS Arts Concert, a vibrant celebration of creativity and talent led by students and alumni from the USAP Community School, with significant support from TWEENS members. This landmark event provided our students with the opportunity to showcase their artistic abilities beyond the confines of academics.

In preparation for the concert, students were given ample time to rehearse and refine their performances. The event featured a diverse array of acts, including poetry recitations, speeches, dance performances, musical singing, flute playing, and an engaging eating competition, among other creative expressions. The variety of performances highlighted the rich talents of our students and fostered an encouraging atmosphere for artistic exploration. The concert not only served as a platform for students to display their talents but also underscored the importance of arts education in nurturing well-rounded individuals. Our students demonstrated remarkable skills and creativity, proving that they are capable of much more than just academic achievements.

The inaugural Art Concert was a resounding success, celebrating the artistic talents of our students and fostering a sense of community spirit. We look forward to building on this momentum in future events, further promoting creativity and engagement among our student body.

Thank you for your support.  We wish you a Happy New Year as you strive toward your goals.

TWEENS looks forward to continued growth in the new year as well, for refugees, by refugees.

Gratefully,
Ancilla and the TWEENS community in Tongogara Refugee Resettlement
