Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award ceremony

We are thrilled to announce that SITAWI has received two awards recently: Social Entrepreneur of the Year in Response to Covid-19 and The Best NGOs Award. These recognitions mark a very important moment for the organization and we would like to share it with you!

The Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award (Prêmio Empreendedor Social do Ano), organized by Folha de São Paulo and the Schwab Foundation, recognizes initiatives that were prominent figures in the fight against Covid-19 and the mitigation of the effects caused by the pandemic.

SITAWI won the category “health emergency”, decided by a technical jury, due to the financial management of 16 Philanthropic Funds, mobilizing resources for hospitals, vulnerable communities, and initiatives in the Amazon that fight Covid-19 since the beginning of the pandemic in Brazil. Through the Funds, we have already mobilized more than BRL 175 million, reached more than 8 million people, and distributed more than 79 million Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and medical equipment, which were donated to 924 hospitals.

Besides, this edition also presented the Reader’s Choice (Escolha do Leitor) category, which the Brazilian population could choose its favorite initiative among the 12 finalists. SITAWI achieved the Top 3, reaching 3rd place.

Moreover, for the 4th time, SITAWI is one of the 100 best Brazilian NGOs. Since 2017, the Best NGOs Award has recognized organizations for their good practices in matters such as governance, transparency, communication, and financing. SITAWI was also recognized for the award in 2017, 2018, and 2020. This year, despite the difficulties imposed by the pandemic, the award had a record number of applicants: more than a thousand organizations. The Best NGOs Award has a relevant role as a beacon to guide donations, achieving great visibility in the sector, as it consolidates itself as the main reference in NGOs in the country.

The Best NGOs Award is held by the agency “O Mundo que Queremos” (The World We Want), Instituto Doar, and Ambev VOA, with the support of researchers at the Getúlio Vargas Foundation, the Instituto Humanize, the Toyota Foundation of Brazil, and Canal Futura.

We would like to thank all of the people, partners, and organizations that helped SITAWI so far and continue to believe in Finance for Good. You are a part of this celebration too!
