Continuing to Thrive in 2021

By Samantha Susilo | Head of Development and Communication

The COVID-19 pandemic has involuntary inquired the world to engage in the pervasive use of virtual learning. And while online and distance learning has been used before to maintain continuity in education, such as in the aftermath of flood and other natural courses of disaster, the scale of the current crisis is unprecedented. This, has forced students and educators across all levels of education to rapidly adapt to online learning.

Online learning is described as learning experiences using various electronic devices (e.g. computers, laptops, smartphones, etc.) with internet availability in synchronous or asynchronous environmental conditions. Online e-learning could be a platform that makes the process of education more student-centered, creative, and flexible.

Fast forward to 2021, and various further educational innovations have occurred to make the universal adoption of remote learning a possibility. One key challenge is access. Here, extensive problems remain, including the lack of Internet connectivity in some locations, especially rural ones, and basic daily necessities that needs addressing such as food and electricity bills. As school break is over and students are back to online-learning, challenges to online school learning remains. However, all these students’ experiences are now better facilitated and delivered to our students, much obliged to you. Knowing that our students are in a time of situational instability, your continuous contribution is extra special to them. Thank you for your generous act of giving during this tumultuous time and thank you for creating a way to help our students.

Warm regards,

The YCAB Foundation team
