Dear Friends,
Greetings from Leyte. I am very happy to report that we are successful in installing a durable communal hand-wash in a Mahayahay Elementary School, Barrio Mahayahay in Ormoc City. Mahayahay is a mountain barangay and this is the first time that the school have a communal hand-wash. The school principal is very enthusiastic saying that one of the problems in the school is the need for children to wash their hands especially during and after eating. Diarrhea is a common problem here. Our hand-wash is durable in that it does not contain many faucets and the water for hand-washing flows in tiny holes bored in the steel pipe. This is different to other traditional hand-wash in that the faucets are easily broken or destroyed especially when children play with it.
Hoping that we will get support for this project as we intend to install 75 more communal hand-wash stations in 60 schools in Leyte.
Very sincerely yours,
Cora
