Gardening again after the destruction by Hagupit

Dear All Friends,

Greetings from Leyte and a very Merry Christmas to all. May I report that Typhoon Hagupit also called Ruby did extensive damage to the vegetable gardens of Typhoon Haiyan survivors the first week of this month. the good thing is that backyard vegetable gardens is easy to raise and do and we have a surplus of vegetable seeds from our vegetable seed production areas located in Mahayahay, Ormoc City and Talisayan, Albuera, Leyte. Immediately after the typhoon struck we were able to distribute a total of 3,400 seed packets and 350 sacks of organic fertilizer. We are making our own organic fertilizer coming from animal manure and organic material in the nearby farms. In 2-3 weeks time, some of the the vegetables will mature already bringing food to the table of local residents.

Hoping for your continuing support to this very important initiative. We are mobilizing local survivors as barefoot garden technicians training their neighbors and the approach works because they are known to the community and can integrate well.

Again thank you very much.

Very sincerely yours,

Cora
