Food packs distribution
Dear Friend,
Greetings and thank you very much for your continuing support to our project providing food security for very poor families affected by the earthquake. Even though the disaster happened a few years back, still many families have difficulty surviving. During this reporting period we continue to provide support in terms of food packs to very poor, marginal families especially those living in the mountains. We included in the food packs, vegetable seeds that they can grow and which will provide them food 2-3 weeks after the seeds are planted. We were able to provide food packs to 50 hard to reach families and they are very happy about it.
Again thank you very much for your generosity.
Very sincerely yours,
Cora

Children as gardeners
Dear Friends,
Warm greetings and thank you for your continuing support to our project providing food supply for poor families affected by the typhoon here in Leyte. I am happy to report that this reporting period we are starting to engage children to do gardening too as the activity is simple and does not require much effort. We were able to orient and provide vegetable seeds to 110 children this time and they are happy with their accomplishments. The parents are happy too because instead of the children doing other things, part of their time is spent in their gardens making them productive and training them to be responsible citizens. The next phase of this initiative will be to train them how to cook the vegetables so that they are nice to eat. We will link with municipal nutrition officers for this effort.
Again, thank you very much.
Very sincerely yours,
Cora

Vegetable seedling delivery
Dear Friend,
Warm greetings and thank you very much for your generous support to provide food security to poor families affected by the typhoon. This project is indeed very important for the beneficiaries and it provide them with highly nutritious vegetables from their backyard with support from us in terms of seeds, organic fertilizer and technical assistance. We also do referrals for them with local supporters here. Great that by this time we have 2 local volunteers in Albuera Municipality and supported by a national volunteer organization. This time we varied a little bit our approach and instead of providing the beneficiaries with seeds, we grow the seedlings and deliver them to those who are interested. Sometimes the seeds are so tiny and difficult for the beneficiaries to raise. With this approach we are able to provide vegetable seedlings to 75 families here.
Again thank you very much.
Very sincerely yours,
Cora
