My name is AIMÉE and I am 26 years old. I am a second-year doctoral student in Medicine at the Evangelical University in Africa (UEA).

As this new academic year just recently began, I want to share an experience that summarizes my first year of Med-School in the Doctorate program, as it was a year rich in discoveries and learning.

There was a particular event which had a profound impact on my journey. It was a professional learning internship around a research project that allowed me to apply what I had learned and present those findings to an audience; how I overcame the challenges I encountered, how I treated the patients I encountered, and the lessons learned from the experience.

The learning internship was a real life-lesson for me, giving me opportunity to break down fears, stretch my perceived limits, discover new perspectives, and strengthen my skills in the areas studied.

In addition, this experience allowed me to build new relationships with extraordinary people with whom I was able to exchange and share enriching ideas. I was able to improve my ability to interact effectively with my colleagues and to manage difficult cases of illness in the hospital with calm and confidence, which was a strength that was appreciated by the healthcare workers evaluating me. You'll be glad to know that I received very high marks.

I want to thank all of you who are gracious and generous to support my academic journey to become a Doctor of Medicine.
