At 7amleh, our commitment to protecting Palestinian digital rights has only deepened in 2025, as Palestinians continue to face unprecedented digital repression, censorship, and structural discrimination online. Over the past four months, we have expanded our research, mobilized international advocacy, and launched new campaigns aimed at exposing injustices and restoring digital access and freedoms for Palestinians, particularly in during the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
If you made a one-off donation last year, please consider making a recurring contribution to power our work.
Between January and April 2025, we published four major reports documenting urgent digital rights violations:
Hashtag Palestine 2024 exposed the shrinking of Palestinian digital space during the 15-month war on Gaza, including the weaponization of AI against Palestinians.
Racism and Incitement Index 2024 revealed over 12 million Hebrew-language inciting and violent posts against Palestinians—averaging 23.6 posts per minute—mainly on X and Facebook.
Digital Safety of Palestinian Children in East Jerusalem shed light on the threats Palestinian children face online, as well as their level of awareness and digital agency.
Digital Divide Report detailed systemic digital infrastructure discrimination against Palestinian citizens of Israel, especially in towns and unrecognized villages in the Naqab, where over 25% rely solely on mobile internet.
#ReconnectGaza Campaign
In response to the devastating destruction of Gaza’s telecommunications network, we launched the global campaign #ReconnectGaza at RightsCon 2025 in Taipei. This campaign calls for the restoration of connectivity as a basic human right and includes:
A petition urging ITU member states to act; Advocacy for emergency internet access tools (eSIMs, satellite access); A demand for an independent Palestinian ICT sector free from Israeli control.
The campaign was accompanied by our report Gaza Telecommunications Infrastructure: Assessment of Damages and Humanitarian Impact and included a joint webinar with Makan. So far, the campaign has gained traction among international policymakers, human rights groups, and tech justice advocates.
Looking Ahead: PDAF 2025
We are preparing for the ninth edition of the Palestine Digital Activism Forum (PDAF) on May 20–21, 2025, themed “Disconnected: The Impact of War on Internet Access and Palestinian Digital Rights.” The agenda features over 60 speakers—including Naomi Klein, Dr. Ghassan Abu-Sittah, and UN Special Rapporteur Irene Khan—and sessions on education under siege, Big Tech’s complicity in genocide, and grassroots efforts to reclaim digital spaces.
With your continued support, 7amleh will keep advocating, documenting, and empowering in the face of rising challenges. Together, we can build a safer, more equitable digital future for Palestinians—where every voice counts and no story is silenced.
