We’re excited to share an update on what 7amleh has been working on over the past few months!
Our Latest:
7amleh Report: “Monetizing Occupation: Meta’s Financial Enablement of Settlement Activity and Violent Rhetoric Against Palestinians"
Our latest report, released last week, reveals how Meta allows Israeli far-right pages, settler-affiliated accounts, and extremist media outlets to generate revenue through its platforms, despite publishing violent, racist, and inciting content against Palestinians, and despite many being directly linked to promoting illegal settlement expansion, as well as widespread violence and attacks against Palestinians in the West Bank. This week, 40+ organizations signed onto a letter calling on Meta to address the demands outlined in our report.
7amleh Position Paper: “From Image to Body: Visual Violence as a Tool of Humiliation and Domination over Palestinian Youth”
Our latest position paper highlights the rise of visual violence practiced by the Israeli occupation army through documenting violations and abuses against Palestinians and publishing them on social media platforms, transforming them into public spectacles of humiliation, mockery, and domination. It shows that these practices have particularly targeted Palestinian youth across the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip, as the most visible group in digital spaces and the most exposed to arrest, searches, and visual surveillance under occupation.
Over the Past Few Months:
10th Annual Palestine Digital Activism Forum
Last month, we held the 10th edition of the Palestine Digital Activism Forum (PDAF), titled, “The Battle over the Palestinian Digital Narrative in the Information Age.” The forum took place fully online over two days, 30–31 March, with the participation of more than 1,300 Palestinian and international participants. Speakers included Dr. Mustafa Barghouti, Secretary-General and co-founder of the Palestinian National Initiative; H.E. Dr. Abdelrazzak Natsheh, Minister of Telecommunications and Digital Economy; Dr. Ruha Benjamin, Professor of African American Studies; Member of the European Parliament Rima Hassan; Dr. Husam Zomlot, Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the United Kingdom; Member of the European Parliament Brando Benifei; and Palestinian actor, writer, and director Amer Hlehel. You can watch the recordings here.
2nd Annual U.S. Convening and Panel on Censorship with U.S. Partners
In February, our US team convened a variety of leaders at the intersection of tech accountability and Palestine to think through how we can continue to move the needle on building a more just digital future for Palestinians. It was incredibly fruitful to gather in Silicon Valley, the heart of many US-Israeli partnerships, particularly at a time when the tools and tactics used on Palestinians for years are now being deployed domestically, utilizing the same surveillance infrastructure and policing technologies.
Digital Security Conference in Bethlehem
In January, 7amleh, in partnership with Dar Al-Kalima University, held the Digital Security Conference in Bethlehem under the title “Our Digital Security, Our Future: The Digital Space Between Freedom and Security.” The conference brought together a distinguished group of experts, legal professionals, and researchers working on digital rights issues, and was attended by approximately 200 participants, including university students, activists, and individuals interested in digital rights. The conference was held amid escalating digital violations against Palestinians and growing risks threatening their security and rights online—particularly in relation to children’s security, gender-based digital violence, and the rights to privacy and freedom of expression—while also exploring protection strategies, advocacy pathways, and the development of fair and safe digital policies.
Taking the Conversation Global:
Over the past few months, 7amleh had a variety of presentations and engagements. Our Executive Director spoke at the Tech for Palestine conference in Barcelona and our US National Organizer spoke at the Take Back Tech conference in Atlanta, earlier this month.
The 7amleh team will be at RightsCon in Lusaka, Zambia at the beginning of May and will be presenting on 25 panels! You can register to attend RightsCon's virtual panels here.

With your continued support, 7amleh will keep advocating, documenting, and empowering communities in the face of growing challenges. Together, we can help build a safer and more equitable digital future for Palestinians.
