At 7amleh, our mission remains clear: to create a safe, fair, and free digital space for Palestinians. As Big Tech continues to be a significant threat to Palestinian digital rights, we are finding new and innovative ways to protect Palestinians.
Tech companies have been complicit, working alongside Israel, to silence Palestinian voices, perpetuate anti-Palestinian racism, and deplatform Palestinians and their allies, all in service of the occupation. Their actions have created a double layer of marginalization: physical and digital. With the escalation of physical and digital violence against Palestinians since October 2023, this work has never been more important.
From the outset, 7amleh has led the charge against tech giants like Meta and PayPal that have sought to silence Palestinians and pro-Palestinian voices online. The funding support will enable us to take our work to the next level in effectively challenging Big Tech. We already have the research and a strong reputation with convener power, but we need the resources to scale our impact.
It will transform digital advocacy power by ensuring Palestinians have the research, networks, and influence to hold global tech companies accountable for discrimination and censorship. It will also build long-term digital resilience, equipping Palestinian civil society with the knowledge and tools to stay safe, visible, and effective online - even amid growing repression.
